Mazatlán is a wonderful region for numerous outdoor activities including golf at two championship golf courses, tennis, horseback riding, hunting and exploring on three jungle islands. Shopping and dining are priced attractively for the budget-minded. Water sports include sportfishing, whale watching, sailing, diving and snorkeling.
Must-sees include the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, a breathtaking cathedral in the middle of town; downtown's colorful markets, gazebo and restored 19th century buildings; the city's historic center, Plaza Machado; the Teatro Angela Peralta, the oldest theater in Mazatlán which hosts the Folkloric Ballet and was recently restored to its original beauty; El Mirador where cliff divers perform. El Faro, the city's famous lighthouse is said to be the second highest in the world.
